About Team Arizona

Desert Roots. Ocean Spirit.

Team Arizona was founded in 2004 by Coach Allen Abad, bringing the traditions of Hawaiian outrigger canoe paddling to the desert.

After beginning his paddling journey in Hawaiʻi and helping establish San Diego’s first outrigger club, Coach Allen carried that same vision to Arizona.

Today, we continue his legacy — training, competing, and building a community rooted in teamwork, humility, and ʻohana.
